The Bridge

It was an autumn day
With the sun ready to sink
Like a man in doom
I saw her
With her grey hair looping out
Sitting on the bridge
With her hands held out to supplicate
Towards those who pass by her
Those who neglected her
Threw her out without mercy

Below the bridge
Wails a river
Older than her
She is also a mother
Feeding  her generations
Yet  both of  them
Suffer the same pang
Negligence!

Victory of Unity over Injustice

Our ears are used to news of protests  and struggles held by political  parties, unions etc against  decisions  of  government  and general issues.Such protests are held in name of public interest but  mostly for their own vested interests. Here is a story  of  victory of  unity  over injustice. It  is about a battle fought between a  handful of  people  against perversion of power and political  influence.
The  story  happened  in an ordinary Government School in Calicut,Kerala; N.G.O Quarters Higher Secondary School which was not a much recognised  school until  2006.It was in 2006 that Mr.Georgekutty stepped  on to the school as Principal changing the whole history of the school. With his awful determination and sheer dedication towards the institution, the school  stepped into the path of progress.Of coarse the teachers also fostered the progress.Within one year the percentage of pass outs increased from 15%  to 75%.The school is facilitated by a superb computer lab attached with air conditioner. We know the importance of computer in this e -world.Now it is a school  which impart knowledge to many students from the weaker section of  society and light a lamp of hope in them. When the school is on its way for further progress an illegal order to transfer the Principal and one of the sincere staff  was issued. This was done through political influence  on the ground of personal grievance  towards the Principal.Staff and parents united together to defend this order.

Parents under the leadership of Parents Teachers Association President Mr.Babu supported the Principal.Students also joined them.Parents from different sections of society sat infront of the school neither spurting out slogans  nor names but silently for a common purpose, for a common good with one heart.
Most of them were women including house wives and those who worked on daily wages. It was a protest nurtured by love and understanding. They sat there from morning to evening each day and this went on for a week.Legal  movements were going on against  the order.Ultimately power bent before unity.

Whenever  you find someone victimised to unjust, support him because tomorrow it may be you in his place.

Protests turn Violence?

India is  a  democratic country  which  allows  us  the freedom  to  protest. It  is  a means for  showing  our  disapproval  against  any  government  decision which  we  think  or  believe  wrong  or  unjust. In India  protests are held  mostly  as  strikes, hartals, bandhs etc. Most  of  these  ideas emanated  from  our Great  Leader  Mahatma Gandhi. He  practised these  ideas  through  the  path  of  Ahimsa or non-violence.He  regarded  them  as crusades to  serve India suffering  the  oppression of  the British empirialist power .

But  nowadays  strikes, bandhs and hartals often become a curse  for  people. Now the  protest has become synonymous with violence and mass destruction of public &  private properties. They cause great losses amounting to crores of rupees for  the  government  which  is the  common  man's  sweat. Moreover  shops  and offices are destroyed plunging several poor people's lives to uncertainity. We  must note  that protests are carried out in foreign countries especially developed  countries without damaging a single thing.
Pubic properties such as K S R T C buses, police  jeeps, vans, offices etc are sabotaged by protestors. They don't have the right to ruin the  property which belongs to the people. Those who frantically follow  the way of  destruction  should remember that destruction is  not  a  remedy but a loss.Mahatma Gandhi succeeded  in gaining India's Independence through the path of  non - violence. The more painful truth is that those who are responsible to serve, protect the rights of people are involved in these deeds & they  instigate violence. In 1984 a bill was passed in Parliament against the destruction of property during protests.Unfortunately  it is not put into act till date. The fact is that whenever there is a strike or hartal poor people are the sole sufferers.Protests should be for the people not against people.

Rain

Rain
Thunder  is shrieking
It  is  raining
Drenching  the earth
A  sprout  yearning  to pop out
Pops its  head  out
Nature is weeping
Looking  at  its  infant
And  nurtures it
In her  lap
Sprout  lies there ruminating
With  its  limbs
On  her  bosom
Slowly  opens her eyes
By  the  dab  of  light
T'morrow  she will  rise  up
In  the  new world
With  her  Leaves like wings
In  future  she  will  have  the  bliss
Of  getting the  spring's  kiss
She will blush
And  smile at  him
With  bright  petals  in  bloom
But if  her  flimsy leaves
Are  ruptured  by  a  brutal  arm
Pang  of  nature
Teem  down  as rain
Cry  of  nature
For  her  daugher

ENDOSULFAN
Rain  of  poison  from  cloud  of  avarice
Poison  into the soul  of  the earth
Poison  distorting  the  strands

Young  buds  of  life
Denied  the  right  to  bloom
To  fill  the  world  with  their  fragrance
Denied  to  enjoy  the  kiss  of  spring
Minds  and  bodies  stunted  by  the  freezing  vapours
The  corridors  of  power  closed  their  doors  for  them
But  opened  for  avarice

I  can  hear  the  earth  crying
Don’t  poison  me
